(like a girl scout)
I carry a big purse. With lots of things in it. Most useful, some not. But I think a girl [lady, like Jackie O] should always be prepared. Having a few small things on hand can make big changes in a day; like when you cry with no waterproof mascara on- better to get rid of the evidence than walk around scaring folks; or when you want to put your hair up because it’s sweltering outside.
I like to be the person that always says “I do!” when someone asks “Does anyone have ________?”.
Here’s a list of what you’ll always find in my puse [unless I'm slacking]:
1. Chapstick- there’s nothing worse than the feeling of dry lips. It’s consuming.
2. Lotion- See #1
3. Mints
4. Eye makeup remover packs- because the smeared mascara and eyeliner look isn’t so sexy
5. Toner packs- for a clean feeling face
6. Nail File (this is a big one)
7. Deoderant.
8. Hair tie- Usually can’t find one of these
9. A bobby pin or two.
10. Nail polish remover packs
11. Nail polish- in case you have time for a spontaneous manicure
12. Excedrin.
13. Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing sheets- It’s summer, they soak up sweat too.
14. Sunglasses
Am I missing any? What don’t you leave the house without?

It is love, for sure, but not at first sight.
Took me a few visits to really understand the value of Kanvas, a LOCAL Tallahassee Boutique and Spa. Now, I think I will forever be devoted.
Recently, I got an amazing facial at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island Spa. My aesthetician, upon taking a close look at my face, decided to give me an M.D. Skincare Alpha Beta Peel [I guess the situation is THAT bad that she felt inclined to sponsor the $225 treatment]. My skin felt stronger and more evenly toned after the peel. I was pleased to know that M.D. Skincare makes an at-home version of the peel. The Ritz Spa attempted to sell it to me for $180. I politely declined but the urge was still there [especially a few days later when my makeup-less faced looked decent].
This week I researched the product online and was very happy that I held off on the decision to buy it at the Ritz. The same kit at Kanvas was $128.
I usually think local stores tend to jack up their prices. I had a long conversation with Lisa from Kanvas and she explained their very anti-price inflation pricing policies. She is going to give me a peel/facial in a couple of weeks [which she promised me will be the best I ever had] and it is going to cost pennies compared to the Ritz spa. I’ll let you know how it goes. But for now, hats off to you, Kanvas!
